Full of ambition and enthusiasm, Beabadoobee has a certain penchant for releasing intricate track after track, and ‘The Last Day On Earth’ is no exception.
The 20-year-old Filipino-born British singer-songwriter is a lo-fi sonic wonder, known for her supporting slot on The 1975’s latest UK tour, she has firmly asserted herself into the indie music scene and has gathered a strong following of fans across the globe.
After recently announcing her new EP, Our Extended Play, co-written by none other than Matt Healy and George Daniel (The 1975), the 90s loving pop-princess has released another track to satiate our hunger for more Beabadoobee goodness.
‘The Last Day On Earth’ opens with a lo-fi pop bass line before introducing Bea’s sultry, delicate vocals. Hazy and sweet, lush lyrics lie over the top of catchy riffs that make you forget it was written and produced in the midst of a pandemic.
Brimming with wish-I-hads, the indie-pop track has a soft ambience that matches and enhances the message of longing being portrayed through boppy lyrics.
Reflecting on the track, Beabadoobee divulges: “It was written shortly after the first main lockdown and lyrically it’s me reflecting on how it would feel if we all knew ahead of time what was going to happen. All the things I would have done if I knew it was the last day of our old normality.”
Glistening and diverse, Bea experiments with new sounds whilst sticking to her signature, wholesome nostalgia-inducing 90’s inspired outlook. A perfect introduction to this new era.
‘Our Extended Play’ is rumoured to be set for release late this Spring.
