For your average 20 something, the realities of spending far too much of your time scrolling through your Instagram feed and beating yourself up over not looking that way or not being as productive as so and so are all too familiar. On ‘Make Time For Change’, indie sweethearts The Magic Gang delve deep into this rut, emerging on the other side with a vital message of self-love and self-care.

As they approach the release of their sophomore album, Death Of The Party, the four-piece have meandered away from the sweet romantic odes of their debut. Sonically more ambitious and lyrically wandering into starkly different territories, the band seem completely invigorated on the string of releases so far. ‘Make Time For Change’ is an upbeat and euphoric offering, its energy never-ceasing aside from the melodic, thought-provoking bridge.

Bristling with different mantras imploring their listeners to “make the promise to yourself to love the person that you are”, The Magic Gang make it clear that they are with you on this journey. Frontman Jack Kaye reels off a list of things he needs to do himself. It is a message that a lot of their listeners will need to hear, and the solidarity offered by the band is crucial. Often providing deliciously optimistic releases, The Magic Gang continue to guide us through with their sunny outlook. This time, it is in the form of a summer-tinged reminder to take time for yourself and your own happiness above all else.
